I should really be sleeping right now, but I just had to share this image with you. It’s so beautiful – yummy light, gorgeous couple in love, what could be better? Not to mention I could shoot on farms and in the country for hours and hours and never get tired of it. If this were me and Brandon, it’d be a large canvas on our wall, and I’d smile every day looking at it. Thanks Sean and Suzy for a lovely time. More images to come later.

Took some beautiful photos of Kassy & Cory at Lambeau Field today, but unfortunately the stadium doesn’t allow me to show any of the photos on my website or any business materials. Serious bummer.

So instead, I’ll just post this one I took of them snuggling. You don’t get to see Lambeau Field (sorry, friends) but you can see how in love they are, and that’s the important part. Can’t wait for their wedding there this coming January.

We met Jeni and Pete at the Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve and had a lovely time hiking around and taking engagement pictures.

It was a beautiful park, although we nearly encountered disaster as there was poison ivy everywhere and we didn’t really look for it at first. Once we saw it, it wasn’t a big deal to avoid thankfully. But no laying down shots for them.

Lots of cliffs, a beach, hiking trails…it was awesome. Such a playground for engagement photos. And Jeni and Pete were such fun. Lots of laughter and joy filled the evening. We’re looking forward to your wedding coming soon!

Romantic Madison Engagement Pictures at the Capitol ~ Cat & Tony

Despite a rally, closed parking ramps, and road construction, we managed to finally come together for Cat & Tony’s engagement photos at the Capitol in Madison, WI. Cat is a photographer in Dubuque, IA so it was really an honor to be selected to photograph their wedding later this month.

The light….oh the light. There’s little better than two beautiful, fun people who let me take their photos in amazing delicious light. I love the sun. See for yourself.

I love taking photos at Farms. There are so many wonderful textures and rustic backgrounds to use for photos – it’s maybe one of my favorite places to have an engagement session! And weddings – even better! Brandon and I also dream of having land, so that’s probably part of our love of doing photography out in the country.

We could have shot for days with Emily & Craig. We took these photos at Emily’s grandfather’s farm, and it was such a beautiful and fun place full of memories and meaning for them. And her grandfather was just the sweetest. Thanks for inviting us to a place that is so special to you, Emily! We can’t wait for your wedding as well!

Fun Fond du Lac Engagement Photography ~ Kirstie & Nick

Fall Engagement Portraits ~ Michelle & Chad

Michelle and Chad are a load of fun. Seriously, I love this couple. I have the best clients ever. They were both so laid back and made my job as a photographer incredibly easy. I knew they were my kind of people when Chad picked some flowers from a nearby flower bed to give to Michelle because I have been known to do the same thing more than a few times. We took their fall engagement photos in Appleton at Lawrence University and also down by the river. Thanks so much for such a fun time! You guys are great and I can’t wait until your wedding!

Artistic Textures ~ Matt & Adriana Revisited

I have a confession to make: I think I LOVE textures on photos. I keep going back and forth over this. Most days, I just want to see clean, solid photos with good color and lighting. I want my photos to be timeless, and clean photos is one of the best ways to achieve this. Other days, like today, I just want to get into photoshop and texture like crazy! I’m still trying to find my style – although sometimes it feels like I’ll never find exactly what I am looking for. No worries, though! I feel like every day my style keeps evolving and that it just continues getting better and better. So if you’ve seen a style on my site that you really love, let me know when we take your photos. This way I can tailor my editing style more towards what you are wanting. You always get a mix – you get the clean photo for every shot, plus for select photos you also get a copy in black and white and/or artistic edits like these below.

What do you think about the textures? Be honest – I have thick skin, and I highly value authenticity. Love them? Loathe them? Leave a comment and let me know – I’d love to hear your opinion! Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward Engagment Photos ~ Matt & Adriana

Last weekend I had the pleasure of meeting with Matt & Adriana to take their engagment portraits in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. This is such a great place for urban photos! Matt & Adriana were such amazing sports, as it was really cold that day! Matt let Adriana wear his coat betweeen photos (isn’t he sweet?) and it was clear to see how great these two are for each other. They were great in front of the camera, and I cannot wait for their wedding at the end of this summer! I can already tell that it is going to be a whole lot of fun!

After tromping around the area, we headed to the Milwaukee Public Market to warm up and shoot a bit more. What a neat place! It’s like an open-air market, except it’s inside. Definitely a great place to go on a fun and whimsical date.

This first photo is by far my favorite from the entire shoot, although I had tons of photos that I absolutely loved, so this will be a longer blog post than normal!

More kissing… This happens a lot during the engagement shoots! Most couples don’t mind.
I love these next two shots – her staying warm in his jacket, and then catching a fun moment between them. LOVE it!
Now we head in to enjoy some ice cream (well, they enjoyed it, I just took the photos….)

West Bend Prairie Engagement Portraits ~ Amanda & Rico

This was my first session of the year where I didn’t have to wear a coat, and oh is it nice to be shooting in warm weather again! Now if it would just stick around awhile longer! Amanda is a colleague of mine and I was really excited when she asked me to take her engagement portraits. We had to reschedule twice due to poor weather, but oh am I glad we did! We ended up with a beautiful day on a gorgeous prairie. Thanks Amanda & Rico for the fun – I hope you enjoy your photos!

I just love Amanda’s eyes…and how the wind is gently blowing her hair. You’re gorgeous, Amanda!

I won’t tell you what Rico did to make Amanda laugh like this – but it made for a great shot!
