Artistic Textures ~ Matt & Adriana Revisited

I have a confession to make: I think I LOVE textures on photos. I keep going back and forth over this. Most days, I just want to see clean, solid photos with good color and lighting. I want my photos to be timeless, and clean photos is one of the best ways to achieve this. Other days, like today, I just want to get into photoshop and texture like crazy! I’m still trying to find my style – although sometimes it feels like I’ll never find exactly what I am looking for. No worries, though! I feel like every day my style keeps evolving and that it just continues getting better and better. So if you’ve seen a style on my site that you really love, let me know when we take your photos. This way I can tailor my editing style more towards what you are wanting. You always get a mix – you get the clean photo for every shot, plus for select photos you also get a copy in black and white and/or artistic edits like these below.

What do you think about the textures? Be honest – I have thick skin, and I highly value authenticity. Love them? Loathe them? Leave a comment and let me know – I’d love to hear your opinion! Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward Engagment Photos ~ Matt & Adriana

Last weekend I had the pleasure of meeting with Matt & Adriana to take their engagment portraits in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. This is such a great place for urban photos! Matt & Adriana were such amazing sports, as it was really cold that day! Matt let Adriana wear his coat betweeen photos (isn’t he sweet?) and it was clear to see how great these two are for each other. They were great in front of the camera, and I cannot wait for their wedding at the end of this summer! I can already tell that it is going to be a whole lot of fun!

After tromping around the area, we headed to the Milwaukee Public Market to warm up and shoot a bit more. What a neat place! It’s like an open-air market, except it’s inside. Definitely a great place to go on a fun and whimsical date.

This first photo is by far my favorite from the entire shoot, although I had tons of photos that I absolutely loved, so this will be a longer blog post than normal!

More kissing… This happens a lot during the engagement shoots! Most couples don’t mind.
I love these next two shots – her staying warm in his jacket, and then catching a fun moment between them. LOVE it!
Now we head in to enjoy some ice cream (well, they enjoyed it, I just took the photos….)

I have to end with this one of Adriana – she’s just so beautiful, and has the most gorgeous eyelashes! She’s going to make such a beautiful bride.

West Bend Prairie Engagement Portraits ~ Amanda & Rico

This was my first session of the year where I didn’t have to wear a coat, and oh is it nice to be shooting in warm weather again! Now if it would just stick around awhile longer! Amanda is a colleague of mine and I was really excited when she asked me to take her engagement portraits. We had to reschedule twice due to poor weather, but oh am I glad we did! We ended up with a beautiful day on a gorgeous prairie. Thanks Amanda & Rico for the fun – I hope you enjoy your photos!

I just love Amanda’s eyes…and how the wind is gently blowing her hair. You’re gorgeous, Amanda!

I won’t tell you what Rico did to make Amanda laugh like this – but it made for a great shot!

Wisconsin Winter Engagement Portraits ~ Nick & Amanda

Amanda and I went to college together and both joined InterVarsity staff afterwards. She is SO MUCH FUN - I just love her! So I can’t tell you how excited I was when she got engaged and asked me if I would photograph her wedding this April! Not only that, but she and her also-super-fun fiance Nick were game for just about anything I wanted to do for their winter engagement photos. They were fantastic – they got up early, they went out in the cold & snow without coats (it was about 20 degrees with a slight wind), they went sledding, and they played in the snow for me…it was just SO much fun! There was so much laughter and joy…I can’t wait to see the wedding. Congrats, you guys. I can tell you’re just going to love being married!

Mike & Melissa’s Elegant Wedding Photography ~ Fond du Lac Wisconsin

Last weekend I had the pleasure of taking wedding photography for Mike and Melissa at South Hills Country Club in Fond du Lac, WI. These two were such a sweet couple – I especially enjoyed seeing how Mike simply adored Melissa all day long. It was truly heartwarming. Not only that, but the entire wedding party and guests rocked the house when it came to dancing – I haven’t been to a wedding where the guests were more excited about dancing! It’s fair to say that I got some of my favorite reception photographs at this wedding! Congrats, Mike & Melissa! I wish you many wonderful years to come!

Nick & Samantha’s Engagement Portraits

I have to admit, some of my very favorite photos to take are engagement photos. Sam and Nick invited me to a beautiful park near Fries Lake, WI to shoot their photos and boy did we get some beautiful images! It was a gorgeous park full of great locations and the light was just amazing! They were up for just about anything, and they even let me play around with my lighting a bit, which resulted in a truly beautiful photo of Sam (the third one down…) After we spent some time at the park we headed to Sam’s family’s home to get some shots with their sweet little pup (who just turned one…) We had a great time, and I’m excited for their wedding coming up this October!

Nick & Liz’s Engagement Photos

I am SO excited to post these photos! Nick, Liz and I got together to take their engagment photos a little while back and we had so much fun that we went about an extra hour longer than I had planned to shoot! They are such a FUN couple who are so very clearly in love! I am ridiculously excited to shoot their wedding here in Fond du Lac next May, which will be held at the Galloway House and Village. These photos were taken at Hobbs Woods and in downtown Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Blair & Mohammed’s Milwaukee Engagement Photos

I love shooting couples! This engagment shoot has to be one of my favorite shoots ever! Andy from Andy Stenz Photography and I met up with Blair and Mohammed in Milwaukee for this session and we’ll be covering their wedding together in September. It was great to shoot in a new location for me, and Blair and Mohammed were so obviously in love. We had such a fun time and shot for almost an extra hour because they were so natural in front of the lens! I had a very difficult time narrowing down which photos to put on the blog and finally decided on 12 (yes, 12!) that I just had to share! I can’t wait for the wedding – I’m sure it will be a great time for all as Blair and Mohammed are really fun people to be around. Enough words, on to the photos!
