Far too often we as photographers have loads of photos of our kids and family…but we’re not in any of the photos because we’re behind the camera. So Trisha from Faber Photography and I decided to do a family portrait exchange. She captured us in these awesome family portraits, and I managed to get these shots of her and her family. Isn’t her daughter just gorgeous like her mommy? It was a ton of fun, and something we’ll probably continue to do each summer as our families grow older and change oh so quickly. Here’s just a few from our really fun and amazing session!

Creative Newborn Portraits ~ Fond du Lac, WI

Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE shooting amazing newborn portraits? I admit, it’s in part because I LOVE babies, and the smaller the better! This might explain why I had three kids of my own within 3 years of each other. I just adore newborns! This little cutie was just 8 days old and she slept like a champ! She was the perfect little model who let me pose her in all sorts of ways. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Kaitlyn’s Urban Senior Portrait Preview

Had an incredibly fun senior photo shoot tonight in Fond du Lac with Kaitlyn. My husband Brandon has been shooting with me more and more and is blowing me away with his talent – this shot was his. Fabulous composition, fabulous lighting, utterly amazing overall. This entire shoot was fantastic – lots of good stuff coming in the near future from the both of us.

Artistic Fond du Lac Newborn Portraits ~ Lillian

I love newborns. I love them so much I had three of my own babies within just over 3 years of each other (no twins…) So it should come as no surprise that I really, really love taking artistic newborn portraits! I’ve been inspired to try some new posing techniques, and I’m really hoping to do some more newborn photos in the next few months to continue learning the craft. And while I LOVE babies, there’s enough chaos in our house right now with three little ones that I’m not at the point where I want to have another one just for the photographic opportunities it would give me!

These gorgeous newborn shots were taken on location at Lillian’s home with my portable studio lighting. Sweet little Lillian was only 12 days old, and she was already starting to stretch! The best newborn portraits are taken within the first 14 days or so while they still curl up like they were in the womb, but really the sooner the better. Lillian was great! Thanks so much to her and her mom for letting me catch such a precious time in her life in these images. I especially love black and white newborn portraits, but Lillian had such a sweet pink headband that I added one in color as well. Enjoy!

I just love how she curled up so sweetly in her mother’s hands here.

Austin’s Beautiful Baby Portraits ~ Eden, WI

Today I traveled to Eden, WI to take baby portraits of my friend’s beautiful baby boy! I simply can’t get past how beautiful his eyes are and how well-natured he was. And oh how he loves his mama. She made him smile so sweetly! It was great fun seeing how he’s grown and changed since I took his newborn portraits. Here they are!

This next set of two photos is just so much fun! He LOVED these little toys and had to figure them all out!

Mmm…toes…. (I only wish I was even half this flexible!)

This next series of three photos cracks me up. He had the sweetest little hat, but wouldn’t keep it on for more than a few seconds. I managed to capture this little sequence of movements and I crack up seeing the hat flying at the end.

He attacked the dog with his teeth – CUTE! No dogs were harmed in the making of this photo

As an interesting side note, these were all done on-location at Austin’s house and were not done in a studio. I brought my portable studio lighting gear and we used a really awesome white fleece and this is what we got! So if you like the “studio” look, please feel free to let me know when booking a shoot and we’ll do something similar. I still love my natural light, but this is fun for me as well. More to come in the next few days about my new lighting gear, so hang tight and check back soon.

Well, I promised you some cool shots…here you go! Some of my favorite shots to date. I especially loved taking these because I got to roam around the old family farm a bit again. It’s been in our family since our first language was Polish. I spent lots of time there in the summer as a kid, so it was neat to be back. Patty’s Family Portraits
