For those of you who haven’t heard of “Trash the Dress” sessions, you don’t actually “trash” your dress. You simply do a photoshoot in it one more time before getting it washed. This allows you to do more creative things that you wouldn’t otherwise do on the day of your wedding for fear of getting it a bit dirty. If you’re interested in doing something like this, let me know and we can discuss some amazing things we can do before cleaning and storing your gorgeous dress away in a closet. I promise, it’s lots of fun and you won’t ruin your dress!

Emily and Nick decided to do a “first look” before the ceremony and take the majority of their photos together so that they’d be able to enjoy more time hanging out with their guests after the wedding. I highly suggest this to all my brides and grooms if they are interested because it just makes the day go so much more smoothly and you’re less crunched on time later on. I just love the look on their faces when they first saw each other.

The ceremony was beautiful. I have to admit, I LOVED that I was able to get this shot with the stained glass – I just love the colors in stained glass windows.

The photos were taken at Lakeside Park and I am SO excited about how well they turned out! I just LOVE this photo with the rainbow umbrella. The bright colors coupled with their awesome expressions make me happy!

The ducks in the photo above insisted on being part of the fun. They literally followed us around – it was a lot of fun, and I’m sure that Nick and Emily will always think of their wedding day when they see ducks in the future.

I took this next one with a tilt-shift lens that I was renting which allows you to change your focal plane. I love how it looks and hope to pick one of these up in the near future. 

I couldn’t resist getting a few photos of them by the lake with such a fun cloudy sky!

The day started with lots of preparations. Their outdoor ceremony by the river was just gorgeous.

The river went completely around the ceremony site. I took this next shot from a bridge nearby.

I caught the caterers watching from the side as well.

I really love this photo of the wedding party laughing. I don’t remember what happened to cause it, but it was really funny.

This next one with the wedding party on the fence is one of my favorites wedding party shots to date.

The details at this wedding were really beautiful. I think the coffee bar was one of the best ideas I’ve seen in awhile.

The reception was all sorts of fun. I just love outdoor receptions.

The bride and groom started their first dance together with a waltz, but the music quickly changed and they began swing dancing with each other. The Father & Daughter dance and Mother & Son dance are so close to my heart…I had to add a few photos from those dances as well.

The reception was held at the new Central Coast Restaurant in Fort Atkinson, WI, and it was truly an amazing modern wedding venue that I’d love to shoot at again! Not only that, but it had some of the best servers I’ve ever encountered. I’m not just saying that, either. They were quick, pleasant, and always glad to help.

But back to Kelly and Kevin. Kelly had a beautiful gown with ribbon ties in the back. I love these dresses, but they aren’t always the easiest to lace up in the back. After a few minutes of working at it and not much success, I offered up some advice and help. So what you don’t see is me in there with the rest of them helping to lace up the dress, but that’s what happened. It always makes me glad to serve on the wedding day, even if it means setting down the camera and doing something completely non-related to photography.

This one and the next photo was taken by Brandon of Kevin’s father. He was a really fun guy with a great appreciation for the gardens. Onto the beautiful garden ceremony…just look at that gorgeous arch and the love flowing from all of their faces!

I love the look on a groom’s face the first time he sees his bride. Just lovely.

I love this next photo of Kevin. You can tell he’s a bit of trouble, which I always greatly appreciate.

This next shot blew me away. We were in a tunnel that didn’t look super-stunning, but the way the light came through made it completely amazing! My favorite formal of the day by far.

Next we were off to the Central Coast Restaurant to enjoy the air conditioning and celebrate!

These next ring shots are one of my favorite ring shots so far. I love wrapping paper for stuff like this!

And the father-daughter dance. This dance always touches me deeply since I have two girls of my own who love to dance with their daddy.

I’m not sure what was going on here, but I’m pretty sure Kevin was causing some trouble again. That face totally says “guilty!”

This wedding party was such a FUN wedding party. This is by far the most energetic and competitive garter toss I’ve ever seen. No seriously. So take your picks…who do you think caught it from this crew?

Nick and Liz’s wedding was a DREAM to photograph. I love this couple! Joyful people, beautiful details, incredible elegance, and lots and lots of time to take photos! They were so amazing – it was 95 degrees the day of the wedding and yet they tromped around outside and were excited about getting fabulous images and memories of their wedding day. So. Much. Fun.

The ladies got their hair done at the fabulous Sesso Bella salon near downtown Fond du Lac. The ceremony was held at the Galloway House and Village in Fond du Lac, WI, and the reception was held in the Crystal Ballroom at the Ramada. Excellent venues, and everyone was great to work with. I was particularly excited to be shooting at the Galloway House and Village and enjoyed getting to shoot in their turn of the century photo studio (see the faded photo that resulted below). I especially loved all the chandeliers that added such a nice touch of elegance and class throughout the entire day.

What made this wedding even more fun was to have my husband Brandon there shooting with me. It allowed us to get coverage of both the ladies and men getting ready at different locations and to get a number of more creative shots. Brandon’s a stellar photographer and you’ll see him with me on more and more shoots in the future. His photos are the one of the groom in the mirror and the black and white photo of Nick and Liz kissing on the train.

Julie and Brian decided to do a “First Look” and meet each other before the ceremony. I HIGHLY suggest this to brides as it’s such a nice intimate moment without anyone (except the photographer) around. Plus this allows you to get a lot of the photos done before the ceremony so you can concentrate after the wedding on enjoying the time with your guests. I love these photos so much!

Next we headed off to Plamann Park to take advantage of the beautiful woods and trees.

Brian and Julie are both disc golfers, so of course we had to take advantage of the awesome disc golf course and do some putting in their wedding attire.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing a small intimate champagne reception for Trevor & Cheer, who were married out in California. They wanted to celebrate with their family here in Fond du Lac, and it was a really lovely time. There were some really great laughs, and of course excellent cake and champagne.

This photo is probably my favorite of the whole night. Just fabulous laughter…true belly laughs…and I LOVE moments like that!
